Ken F. Miller

This study guide is to be used with my book Understanding the Doctrine of Christ, according to Hebrews 5:12-14 & Hebrews 6:1-20. This guide has been laid out to be used in a classroom environment, using a very good Bible Concordance for scriptural references and either a KJV or NKJV Bible. It can be very easily used with my book which would explain in detail what is brought out here.In Matthew 28:19–20, Jesus told His disciples to “make disciples of all nations… teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.” This Great Commission was not just for the original followers of that time but was for all Christians to come.

Teaching does not just happen by accident, it requires planning, study time and/or gathering of material, constant practice and believing in what you are teaching. Above all know the skill level of your students and their capabilities. That is where Christian teaching resources come into play, they act as bridges between the timeless Word of God and the contemporary world in which we live.

Would you use a manual on how to rebuild a car motor to teach a class on repairing a broken table? Of course not, so in preparing yourself for the class make sure you have gathered the proper material.

Types of Christian Teaching Resources

Christian teaching resources are varied and provide many subjects to diverse ages, learning styles, and ministry contexts:

1. Bible Study Guides

These are structured tools designed to help individuals or groups dive deeper into specific books of the Bible, themes, or doctrines. Many are accompanied by reflection questions, historical background, and commentary from trusted theologians.

2. Curriculum for All Ages

For creating strong religious values in children, the education of religion is started as young as in preschool, and continues till your adulthood.

3. Devotionals

Daily devotionals are powerful Christian teaching resources that offer short, Scripture-based reflections to encourage personal growth. Many are topic-specific, such as devotionals on marriage, anxiety, or leadership, making them relevant and accessible.

4. Multimedia Tools

Videos, podcasts, apps, and online platforms have transformed the way Christians learn and teach. Resources like RightNow Media, BibleProject, and YouVersion offer sound, biblically faithful content in engaging formats.

5. Books and Commentaries

Christian authors and theologians have written extensively on almost every topic imaginable. From systematic theology to practical Christian living, books serve as deeper resources for both teaching and self-study.

6. Sermon Outlines and Teaching Templates

Pastors and teachers often rely on outlines and pre-prepared templates to help craft effective messages. These resources help maintain clarity, doctrinal accuracy, and effective communication during sermons or lessons.

7. Christian Education Games and Activities

Interactive learning is especially effective for children. Board games, flashcards, puzzles, and role-play kits grounded in biblical principles help make Scripture memorable and fun.

Finding Reliable Christian Teaching Resources

With so many options available in today’s world and so many distractions that can keep us astray it is hard to stay on track, with that being said, it is essential to ensure that the Christian teaching resources you use are biblically sound:

Check the Author or Organization: Ensure that the resource is developed by individuals or ministries known for biblical faithfulness.

  • Relate with Scripture: Always weigh your everyday teachings against the Bible itself. Resources are only useful if they make sense to you and align with your teachings.
  • Look for Doctrinal Clarity: Avoid resources that are vague or ambiguous about essential doctrines such as the Trinity, salvation by grace through faith, and the authority of Scripture.
  • Seek Reviews and Recommendations: Church leaders, seminary instructors, and fellow believers can be helpful guides in identifying trustworthy materials.
  • Test for Application: Good teaching does not stop at information, it leads to transformation. Choose resources that encourage obedience, prayer, worship, and service.

The Role of Christian Teaching Resources in the Local Church

Churches that invest in solid teaching tend to see deeper spiritual growth and stronger community. From sermon series planning to youth group curriculum, Christian teaching resources empower leaders to disciple with clarity and confidence. They also create consistency across ministries, helping congregations stay unified in doctrine and practice.

Small groups, in particular, benefit from structured teaching aids. Resources designed for home groups or Bible studies provide direction, keeping discussions grounded in Scripture and focused on life application.

Moreover, in a time when many believers face doctrinal confusion, resources that equip Christians to “rightly divide the word of truth” (2 Timothy 2:15) are more critical than ever.

Online Access and the Global Church

One of the greatest advantages of modern Christian teaching resources is their global accessibility. Online platforms allow believers in remote or persecuted areas to receive teaching that may not be otherwise available. Digital libraries, free Bible apps, and downloadable curricula break down barriers of geography and finances.

Additionally, global ministries translate resources into multiple languages, ensuring that believers around the world can be discipled in their native tongue. This accessibility is a remarkable blessing for missions, church planting, and global evangelism.

Christian Teaching Resources for the Home

Discipleship starts at home. Parents are the first Bible teachers their children will encounter. Deuteronomy 6:6-7 emphasizes teaching God’s commandments “diligently to your children.” Resources such as family devotionals, Bible-themed coloring books, Scripture memory cards, and Christian parenting books make it easier to lead spiritually at home.

Homeschooling families also benefit from Christian curricula that integrate faith and learning, helping children develop a biblical worldview in subjects like science, history, and literature.

Conclusion: Equip and Be Equipped

Whether you are a seasoned teacher or a new believer desiring to grow, Christian teaching resources are a gift to the Body of Christ. They help us pass on the faith, rightly handle God’s Word, and encourage one another in love and truth. As 2 Timothy 3:16-17 reminds us, “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching… so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

Let us not take these resources for granted. Instead, let us use them diligently to build up the Church, disciple the next generation, and proclaim the Gospel with wisdom and conviction.

Explore, study, and teach, because the truth is worth sharing.
